Author Collaboration Program Launch

February 3, 2015--We are excited to announce the ACN’s new Author Collaboration Program, the latest way for nutrition researchers to disseminate their work. The College has launched the program to expand our publications work and reach beyond the flagship Journal of the American College of Nutrition (JACN).

The program has multiple benefits for both authors and the ACN. First, it will offer members and non-members a new avenue to publish important information about nutrition. Second, it provides a means by which the ACN can be involved in the creation of high-quality nutrition books. Additionally, the College’s involvement assists authors, editors and publishers in producing and promoting the work. Finally, donations may accrue to the College.

The College will work with well-respected authors to create books that provide accurate and useful information, and we are already working with multiple publishers. It is anticipated some books will feature a single author who writes extensively on a thematic title. However, others will have multiple contributors with a specialist author devoted to various chapters within a single title. Many authors will come from within our membership, but ACN membership is not a requirement.

To date, the ACN’s Author Collaboration Program has benefited from the publication of Metabolic Medicine and Surgery by Michael Rothkopf, MD, FACN, FACP, and the release of Nutritional and Integrative Strategies in Cardiovascular Medicine by Stephen Sinatra, MD, FACC, FACN, CNS, is due out March 2015. Additional books are in the discussion stage with the ACN Publications Committee.
