Accreditation and CME

The American College of Nutrition (ACN) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The mission of the ACCME is the identification, development, and promotion of standards for quality CME. This is utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence, and incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care.

ACN's educational mission is to improve the quality of nutrition care by enhancing nutrition education for physicians. As such, the ACN provides opportunities to fill in the gaps in the current medical school curriculum as well as facilitating life-long learning and continuous improvement. The goal of this training is to promote the application of such knowledge in clinical practice for the prevention and treatment of disease.

The ACN is committed to developing and implementing innovative, effective and ethical educational opportunities for physicians and other health care professionals practicing in the fields of general and clinical nutrition. The annual conference of the ACN was created to support this mission and is designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
